First Sunday Ride
So one day, was told to contact this one guy if i wanna join rides on sundays which i did. Received an sms announcing about a ride on sunday a couple of days later. Which i went to. My first ever distant ride. This puts all the effort i put in to test. This puts all the miles i ride so far at stake. Have i made any improvements? Have i reached my objectives in this sport so far? Was it all worth it? This is progress report.
Route is : Petronas Ulu Tiram - Simpang Kulai/Kota Tinggi - Felda Ulu Tebrau - Petronas Ulu Tiram

Yeah, distance might be 'short' to some, but to me, its far. I've never rode this far before in my life. Good news is, i survived this ride to write about it now. Couple of days before the ride, i did some adjusments to the seating positions. Only had 2 days to get used to the new, much more comfortable, and less stressful riding position. A day before, cleaned the bike, and tighten every nuts and bolts on the bike before i load it on the rear car rack. Also packed my stuffs in the car early. Dun want to be late and rush out in the morning looking for stuffs. Also ate a lot the day before to stock up on carbs. Unfortunately, suffered a bit of diarrohea and i think maybe, just maybe, half of the loaded carbs when down the toilet bowl. Haha.. Ate lots of bananas and breads too. Woke up early, showered and kit up for the ride. Drank some glucose and also fill em up in my cycle bottles. Down some buns and a couple more bananas once i reached the meet up place. Haha. Was focused as hell. Biasa la kan, newbie. First time going on distant ride. Nervous sikit la. Also dun wan the day to go bad and end up ruining everyone's ride.
Knew a few of them from my weekly night rides, and also met some old timers and a few more new faces. Made frens with them and what amazes me was they welcome me and gave encouragements and support even during rides. Errr, that sounded lame, ha ha, but its true with me being new to this and all. It was gud.
So back to the ride. Took off first as i know i'm slow. Went on solo for quite a distance until they caught up with me. It was early in the day and the road wasnt all that busy. Main road was only the Kota Tinggi road. Once we turned in to Simpang Kulai, its all B-roads along estates right up to Felda Ulu Tebrau where there's a bit of residential area. Crazy thing bout this route are the crazy hill climbs. There were many many many hills along the route. Crazy. When i'm on top of a hill, i can see the next 2 or 3 in front. Fun part was of course, the downhill part, tho there weren't as many as the hill climbs. Some of the hills were so steep i cant even breathe. I even had to push my bike up the last, which is also the steepest hill. Crazy. One time, accidentally slipped my fingers on the shifter during gearchange and the chain just pop out of the cranks. Lucky it just popped out and did not break. If not i'd have to push the bike till the end of the route or until someone rescues me. Cycled the first 20kms on my morning 2 buns and 2 bananas. Next 20kms on my gud night's rest. Last 22kms on guts alone coupled with cramps and fatigue setting in. Almost died. ha ha.
Finished the route in 2hrs 30mins. I think i did OK. Managed to complete the run without any mishaps. New milestone set in this run. Didnt manage to take any pics during the ride tho. Was too busy concentrating on the ride and watching the road. To sum it up, it was a gud outing for me. Wud definitely go on these long rides again. All i gotta do is train harder.
